Welcome to Calm The Storm Kitchen!
Hi there! I’m Ann— a follower of Christ, wife, mom, and homemaker at heart.

Nourishing my family is one of my highest priorities day to day, and I love getting creative in the kitchen—which really means I love to make it up as I go! I’m also passionate about supporting our health through from-scratch meals and reducing toxins wherever I can. Before I was able to live my dream as a mother and homemaker, I earned a bachelor’s degree and worked in the fields of Animal Sciences and Biology. I am now able to use my studies, namely nutrition, meat processing, and physiology, to shape my approach to healthy living for my family, and it allows me to help bridge the gap between the scientific papers and the real, practical tips for you.
So, how did we get here? Well, I’ll tell you.
This journey began when my husband and I were dating. Within the first year or so, he started experiencing a myriad of concerning symptoms. After countless doctor visits, minimal screenings, and very little support, he began to lose hope. Like many others, he had the unfortunate—but sadly not uncommon—experience of being repeatedly dismissed. Over five years passed with no clear answers, no connections, and no diagnosis.
In that time, we got married, started his career, and began growing our family—but he was still suffering. We ate well, everything homemade and healthy, and he stayed as active as he could despite the symptoms. But nothing added up. Was it food? Was it environmental? The symptoms were systemic, not specific, and it left us feeling stuck.

Now, I’ve always prayed for my husband, even before we met, and especially for relief from this unknown ailment — But one day, It was weighing on my heart and I fervently prayed, specifically for wisdom, asking the Lord to help us to know the cause. Later the same day, I stumbled upon something that felt like a clear answer. It was completely off the radar and there was no way I would have figured it out on my own—but I just knew this was it. God had led us there.
Filled with a new hope, we began a strict elimination diet, changed how we approached food and meal prep, and filled our freezer to the brim. Within a week, he began to feel better. By two weeks, he felt better than he had in five long years. Thanks be to God.
I felt called to create this page to share the wisdom I’ve gathered in navigating this trial. My hope is to offer practical recipes, helpful tips, and a little light for others walking a similar path. When we seek God’s wisdom, He is faithful to provide it. May you find the same wisdom and peace in your own journey.
"But if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly, and he will be given it." ~James 1:5 (NABRE)
